The Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority is still awaiting news of the status of two of its employees - Mr. Rosemond James (Director General) and Mr. Gregory McAplin (Director of Flight Safety), who were in Haiti at the time of the earthquake on January 12, 2010.

Messrs James and McAlpin travelled to Haiti on American Airlines 1291 on January 12, 2010, arriving in Port-au-Prince at 12:00pm for the meeting of the Caribbean Aviation Safety and Security Systems (CASSOS) hosted by OFNAC-Haiti Civil Aviation Authority. The meeting was scheduled to commence the following day, January 13, 2010.

While the meeting was being held at the Karibe Hotel, Messrs James and McAlpin and two other delegates from the Curacao Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Seigfried Francisco and Mr. Auxenia Isenia, were staying at the Hotel Montana, 6km away from the Karibe Hotel.

While delegates from the Jamaican CAA, Trinidad CAA, ASSI and Barbados CAA have been rescued and some returned to Jamaica, unfortunately, Messrs James and McAlpin, Messrs Seigfried Francisco and Auxenio Isenia are still unaccounted for.

The ECCAA is exploring all avenues to assist in the rescue and safe return of Messrs James and McAlpin.
